Belleville Public Library Web Refresh The Belleville Public Library and John M. Parrott Art Gallery Refreshes its Web Presence.

Check out the new Belleville Library site, www.bellevillelibrary.ca, and explore their new web presence (done by OSM Networks!). The new website has a clean look, accessibility features, and an improved design. New features include a catalogue searching tool that is built right into the website including added search functions such as author and subject search. Other changes include a colour- coded "What’s On” event calendar that allows you to quickly see which events are for children, teens, adults, or the Gallery.

The new Library website meets the WCAG AA accessibility rating.

The WCAG AA rating ensures that the Belleville Library website is accessible to all. This includes those with disabilities including visual, physical, auditory, cognitive, learning, or language. This allows everyone to explore the website easily. A key feature of the site is that it is enabled with the "Browsealoud” screen reading software. Browsealoud screen readers are free to download and will read out the website in a clear voice.

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is provincial legislation that sets standards for meeting the accessibility needs of all Ontario citizens. The WCAG AA rating meets the AODA standards for web accessibility set for the year 2021.

Comments:

"Belleville Public Library is more than just the books on our shelves and the beautiful building on Pinnacle Street. Our new website gives people 24-hour access to the Library’s collections and services from home or anywhere in the world. Our goal was to meet the varying needs of everyone who uses our website by making it easy to use, easy to browse and easy to find what you need. We hope that our new site welcomes people into the Library, even if they haven’t stepped foot inside the building.”
Chrissy Barker, Coordinator of Information and Web Services

"We were really pleased with this project and value our partnership with the Library. Our designers were pleased to work with the Library team who gave substantial direction and input into the finished product. It was a great team effort! Our goal is always about getting the tools into our customer’s hands so they can maintain a quality website moving forward.”
Dave Lawrence, CEO of OSM Networks Inc., Belleville
